In order to expand lifetime of lead acid batteries, charging mode and functions are very critical. The Amstel battery chargers have special settings to optimize lifetime.

Every time the Amstel is power up on the battery, it will run the following steps as shown in the picture. This happens in a UPS system after a power fail.

The Amstels have the folowing setpoints:

Boost Voltage

The maximum voltage the batteries must be charged before entering float voltage.

Boost Time

The maximum time that the battery must reach the boost voltage. If this time is reached, the system will enter the float mode to spare the battery.

Go to Float @ Current

When the current drops under this level, during boost mode, the system will switch over to float.

Float Voltage

The voltage that The Amstel maintains under normal situation.
